Intercultural Dialogue
Turkey... what we associate with this country... No, I will not start it this way... ;) Visit to Turkey destroyed my stereotypes. This country is amazing, it has its charm – like in a fairy tale. It doesn’t matter if you are in a big city like Istambul or in a village, or in an authentic city, everything is different than in Poland... style, culture, religion, people. It differs but it is beautiful and interesting. When we were in Istabul all things from each way allured me: ‘’ come and look... ‘’ Shops with carpets, colourful scarves in the shops’ windows, lamps on each corner of the street... One month ago I was in Turkey. At the beginning I was really afraid of that country, because every person who I met warned me about strange Turkish culture. But when we arrived in Istanbul I was amazed at those buildings, those people and landscapes which surrounded me. We were in many famous and beautiful places like ‘’Blękitny Meczet’’, which was one of the biggest and one of the most beautiful masques in the world. The second place which amazed me was Haga Sophia masque. A long time ago it was a catholical church but after 1453 it became a masque. A special view for me were people dressed in scarves and the others in traditional clothes. For me it was strange but beautiful. I could appreciate that different culture. On the second day we met our friends from Spain J From that country came very nice teachers and very very J nice students... Read More
In February we were a week in Turkey. We were in an exchange with two Polish people, five Italian people, three Sicilian people and thirteen Turkish people and the three of us(Spanish people). This exchange was one of the most fantastic things that we did in our life.
We have lots and lots of good memories with all those people.During that week, we were like a big family. Spanish, Italian, and Sicilian people were with Turkish people living in their houses. I n the mornings we visited different places. We had lunch together and we continued visiting more monuments or things like that.
We can remember everything that happened to us. Some of our best memories are nights in discos all together, and different marvelous places like Ephesus or Pomukkale.
We hope we can meet together again. I am waiting for the next meeting in Spain, because we will be able to see all of them again, and we will be able to meet the students who were with the Spanish ones when they were in the other countries . We are sure everybody will be really nice.
We miss all of you, our best wishes

Missing Turkey…
Before leaving to Turkey, I admit, I was really a bit anxious. Why? The flights, the accommodation, the work to do, the new colleagues in a so far and not well known country(!). But as soon as I met our Turkish friends at Izmir Airport, I suddenly realized it would have been an incredible experience!
They were so smiling and kind and the wait for the Spanish first and the Polish then became the start of our friendship. I remember my first Turkish coffee and the nice Zohre who was asked to foretell my future. Then when we met all together, I thought I had never known such a group of people who were able to share feelings and emotions, be creative and competent, and a little crazy, as only teachers I suppose can be. And I still think that!!!
It was a pleasure to talk from heart to heart walking along the beautiful and fascinating places and sites we have visited. I thank you all for the unforgettable days we have spent together.
Not to mention our project coordinator, dear Katarzyna, whose personality combines tenderness, calmness and willingness to do her best for all her colleagues at work.
A special thank is for our common Turkish friends who have welcomed us not only to their school but especially to their houses, letting us meet their family members and appreciate their customs as friends usually do.
Last but not least, the delicious food we have tasted, so good that even if we have eaten a lot, we haven’t got weight. What a wonderful thing!
Several days have passed by….and sometimes Turkey seems far again. But when memories and homesickness seize my heart, I look back at the innumerable photos and at the original souvenirs (a carpet too! Unfortunately only one and too small!) I keep jealously at home and I smile to think how happy I was there.
No tears but goodbye to you all, my dear friends, we have achieved Comenius’s greatest goal, friendship.
I really hope to see you soon wherever it is.
